English, 19th century. A diminutive round mahogany bedside commode, close stool, or necessary, with fluted sides, a gilt and tooled leather hinged lid inset within a molded edge, and a paneled base with a pull out tooled and gilt leather topped foot rest. Hinged lid opens to reveal interior fitted with a porcelain chamber pot and a mahogany seat. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 17.3", diameter 15.25".
