Italian, 18th century. Baroque style walnut carved cassone, having rectangular snipe hinged and gadroon molded top enclosing a void interior over a carved paneled front flanked by carved grotesque masks to each end, the base with shell carved border resting on front scroll carved feet. The sides mounted with iron handles. Approximate height 21", width 67.25", depth 20.75".
