Attributed to Erhard & Sohne (German, founded 1844), circa first quarter 20th century. A heavy cast bronze dresser box or jewelry box of sarcophagus form in the Neoclassical style, the lid with a relief scene of Roman warriors riding a three-horse drawn chariot bordered by palmette band, the box sides with relief band of a procession of Roman citizens reminiscent of the 13BC figural frieze of the Ara Pacis Augustae which depicts members of the Senate, the hinged lid opening to reveal a red velvet padded interior. Underside with impressed mark of capital S beside a stylized t or cross. Approximate height 3", width 6.875", depth 3.75".
