After Correggio (Italian, c. 1489-1534) Copy of La Zingarella , (Madonna and Child with a White Rabbit) . Unsigned, inscribed "Originale Zingarelle [ sic ] del Correggio" on the reverse. Oil on panel, 18 5/8 x 14 15/16 in., framed. Condition: Splits and bowing to panel, retouch, craquelure, surface grime. N.B. This is a copy of La Zingarella (The Gypsy Madonna) by Correggio in the Museo di Capodimonte, Naples. The traditional title is owed to the Madonna being attired as a gypsy girl (zingarella). The scene depicted is likely "Rest on the Flight into Egypt," but the composition does not include the figure of Joseph.
