Jan van Beers (Belgian, 1852-1927) Solitude. Signed and inscribed "JAN VAN BEERS/ PARIS" l.r., with two canvas stencils from Rey & Cie., Paris, on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 36 1/2 x 68 3/4 in., unframed. Condition: Major punctures, tears, and abrasions, canvas deformation, paint losses and flaking, canvas partially detached from the stretcher, water staining to the reverse. Provenance: A Massachusetts educational institution.
