John Cafe, London, 1752 each having a candle cup surmounting a foliate and knopped stem and raised on a lobed hexagonal base decorated with acanthus leaves, the underside with the inscription ED to ED . marked on underside 68 ozt 11 dwt Height 9 inches. In overall good, stable, usable condition. Light to moderate surface scratches throughout consistent with polishing and use. Hallmarks to underside consistent and readable throughout. Heavier rubbing to sterling standard mark on candle cup body. Bobeches without hallmarks and likely later. Bobeche sockets bent out of round, still remove and sit smoothly in cups. Seams somewhat visible on exteriors. Two candlestick bases bent slightly out of round, sitting stable but wobbling slightly when placed on a flat surface. No evidence of monograms or monogram removal.
