Likely Pierre Gillois, London, Second Half 18th Century of two-handled form, the lid with a rampant lion finial and engraved crest depicting a rampant lion, the tureen with beaded borders and a bright-cut foliate mantled coat of arms and the motto Spem et Speravi. marked on base 18 ozt 19 dwt Width 8 1/2 inches. Overall good condition. Light surface wear consistent with age and use. No signs of repair or breaks. Few areas of light tarnish to the surface and residue to recesses. Light rubbing to the engraved coat of arms.
