Godefrey Durand (French, 1832-c. 1891). "The Capture of Cetewayo - Arrival of the King at Sir Garnet Wolseley's Camp, Uluni, August 31", hand colored engraving, an illustration for "The Graphic" published October 18, 1879. Engraving depicts the arrival of the Zulu King, Cetshwayo kaMpande, at the English encampment after being defeated at the Battle of Ulundi. The king walks at center of page behind a group of English soldiers followed by his wives and a Zulu chief named Umkosana who are flanked by the remainder of the English regiment. Sight size approximately 14.75" x 40.5".
