Attributed to Robert Salmon (Anglo/American, 1775-c. 1842/44) Fire Scene by Moonlight/A Boston View Unsigned, identified on label from the Kennedy Galleries, New York, on the reverse. Oil on panel, 12 1/2 x 10 in. (31.8 x 25.4 cm), framed. Condition: Partial split to panel (stabilized with splats), scattered retouch, fine craquelure. N.B. Salmon painted a number of Boston fire subjects beginning in 1830 including fires in the South End, Broad Street, and his famous view of the Old State House on fire.
