Log of the Ship Morrison, 1838, recorded statistics "from Canton Towards New York James S Copp Master," including several brilliant Chinese paintings on pith paper depicting local fish and house boats, (wear), ht. 16 1/4, wd. 11 1/4 in. Note: A note accompanying the log was written by the grand-niece of a Commodore Benson, who was master of the ship from 1835-42, in it she tells about the master's wife accompanying him on the voyage and how she acquired these paintings and some paper souvenirs also included in the log.
