American School, 19th century. "Portrait of Congressman William S. Greene", oil on wood panel, apparently unsigned. Painting depicts a middle aged man with finely coifed brunette hair and moustache sitting at waist length wearing a white collared shirt with small black bow tie, black vest, and black jacket, with a red velvet upholstered chair exposed to right and a solid background of muted deep green. Framed approximately 25.375" x 21.75", unframed approximately 17.25" x 13.75".
