Four-piece Sterling Silver Presentation Tea Service, Tiffany & Co. , New York, mid-19th century, comprising a teapot, sugar, creamer, and waste bowl, globular form with Greco-Roman ornamentation, having a central band of Greek key decoration, the teapot and creamer with a coat of arms, the waste bowl with a cross, (minor dents), ht. 6 1/2, 5, 4 3/4, 3 1/2 in. Provenance: This set is from the descendants of the family of John Jay, first Chief Justice of the United States. Each piece is inscribed on the bottom and presented individually by family members to Peter Augustus Jay and Julia, his wife, March 30th, 1869. The second presentation is to John and Louise Jay, December 4th, 1926.
