Joseph Honore Maxime Pellgrin (French, 1793-1869) Ship Garonne of Baltimore... Leaving the Port of Marseilles 1845. Signed and dated "...Pellegrin Marseilles 1845" l.r., titled below, ship identified on bow and stern. Mixed media including watercolor, gouache, and pen and ink on paper, sheet size 19 1/2 x 25 1/2 in., in a molded gilt frame. Condition: Laid down on paper, repaired tear from edge u.c., other repairs to edges, scattered fox marks and minor abrasions. N.B. The ship was built in Milford, Connecticut in 1815, and had its early career in the New York Havre Whitlock Line. Capt. James Myers was the Garonne 's commander.
