Wightman, Boston, circa 1850, signed on the handle Wightman, Fecit, Boston , with brass piston and cylinder, on cast-iron base with cabriole legs, ht. 12 in. Wightman advertised as a Philosophical Instrument maker at 33 Cornhil in the 1840s and 50s. He was joined by his son around 1860.
