Federal Mahogany Inlaid Glazed Desk/Bookcase, Massachusetts, 1790-1800, the top section with shaped gallery centering a rectangular panel with cross-banded border and flanking plinths on a flat cornice molding with beaded frieze above two glazed doors with molded muntins opening to two shelves, four drawers and four valanced compartments, the lower projecting section with fold-out writing surface with cross-banded and interrupted line inlaid border and baize lined interior and inlaid edge on a case of four cockbeaded graduated drawers with flame birch matched panels framed by cross-banding, all resting on an inlaid base of flaring French feet and valanced skirt, replaced brasses, old surface, (minor imperfections), ht. 78 3/4 including finial, wd. 40 1/2, dp. 20 in.
