Needlework Sampler and Related Items, "Wrought by Sarah Goodridge aged thirteen years," b. 1804 or 1805, Lyndeborough, New Hampshire, silk threads on a linen ground depicting alphabet panels over a pious verse "Remark my soul the narrow bound/Of the revolving year/How swift the weeks complete their round/How short the months appear/So fast eternity comes on/And that important day/When all the work my hands have done/Gods judgment will survey" with a house below flanked by pine trees, floral vine border centered with a basket of flowers, (minor fading, toning), 18 7/8 x 19 in., framed. Provenance: Carl W. Stinson. Note: Accompanying the lot are several items pertaining to Sarah Goodridge including: a handwritten note by a descendant of Sarah Goodridge with a brief history of Sarah and her descendants, engraved certificate of merit, a photo copy of her portrait, her bible with printed personal label, four handwritten letters to Sarah and various members of her family, a label from a Boston picture framer which was originally on the frame, and two handwritten notes reading "Sarah Goodridge-born Nov. 24, 1805, Sampler Made in 1818."
