Federal Tiger Maple Academy Painted Work Table, Boston Area, Massachusetts, 1790-1810, the top with ovolo corners above the tiger maple ring-turned tapering legs which flank the two cockbeaded drawers; the top has free-hand decoration including houses in a landscape surrounded by a meandering vine with acorns in shades of muted greens and browns above similar scenes with castles, windmills, and ships which are painted on the drawer fronts and the other three sides, original surface and brass, (paint loss), ht. 29 1/2, wd. 20 3/4, dp. 16 3/4 in.
