Continental, 19th century. A gilt metal chandelier comprising a top foliate cast finial with scroll hook over the central shaft decorated with a variety of ornamentation comprising a lotus cup over a twisted column within an acanthus cast cup and baluster containing a flourish of decorative whimsical metal scrolls, over a scalloped foliate cup over a large baluster with paterae and acanthus leaves surmounting the lower corona with cast foliate scrolls from which the 16 curved fluted arms project, ter,omatomg fom flower form cups and candle cups decorated with garlands and lotus leaves, each containing a paper faux candle covering the bulb socket. Approximate height 41.5", diameter 30".
