Shaker Yellow Washed Pine Sewing Steps, signed in pencil on the underside "Olive Hatch" (1794-1858), South Groton, Massachusetts, Harvard or Shirley, Massachusetts communities 1820-40, with the two steps, showing paint loss from wear, and the more yellow sides having a slight arch at the bottom, original surface, (minor imperfections), ht. 8, wd. 12 1/2, dp. 7 7/8 in. Provenance: Olive Hatch was a sister in the Shirley and Harvard Shaker communities, then to Hazel Hayes Collection; Avis H. Howells Collection.
