Blue Painted School Master's Desk, Smithtown, Long Island, 1840-60, the scrolled gallery above the top which is hinged and opens to an interior of a single shaped shelf over open compartments with scrolled dividers, on square chamfered legs, original blue paint, (very minor imperfections), ht. 48 1/2, wd. 27 3/4, dp. 26 in. Provenance: This desk came from the Smithtown School and belonged to the Smith family.
