Circle of George Morland (British, 1763-1804). "A Plea for Love", oil on wood board, signed and dated lower right "Morland 1797".Traditional courting scene depicting a male and female in an outdoor setting, the female seated in a wooden chair before a central tree and dressed in rich white and pink gown and 18th century style lace cap and straw hat and the adoring male standing beside her wearing a loose white shirt over brown pants and knee socks as he gestures and one hand to landscape behind him and holds a staff in other hand. Framed approximately 16" x 14.125". Unframed approximately 11.75" x 10".
