Woodcut in gray and black on paper, image size 18 x 27 3/4 in. (45.7 x 70.5 cm), matted. Condition: Margins approximately 1 inch, creasing at upper edge. N.B. A native of Cambridge Massachusetts, Calvin Burnett grew up in an artistic family and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Art. His work was most recently displayed in the Dayton Art Institute's exhibition entitled LOOKING FORWARD, LOOKING BLACK, which chronicled the evolving image of African Americans in the United States.
