Charles Waln Morgan II (American, 1825-1896) Portrait of a Young Lady. Signed and dated "C. Waln Morgan/Florence/Nov. 1865" l.r. Watercolor and gum arabic on artist board, depicting the woman in an oval format with wavy strawberry blond hair wearing a coat with black fur-trimmed collar and blue trimmed tassels, 14 3/8 x 11 1/2 in., unframed. Condition: Good. Note: Charles Morgan II was born in Philadelphia, the son of Thomas Waln Morgan and Hannah Griffits Morgan. He married his second wife Anne Rotch Hudson in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1881; they made their home in Versailles, France.
