American School, Newbury, Massachusetts, Early 19th Century Portrait of an Allegorical Figure. Old ink inscription on back reads, "Painted by Elizabeth Brickett (Titcomb)..." Watercolor on paper, oval format with eglomise spandrels showing a woman carrying a cornucopia, a scythe in her other hand, with fruiting trees, bundles of grain, and houses in the distance, 9 x 7 1/4 in., framed. Condition: Toning, small gilt losses. Note: A genealogical search included with the picture records that Elizabeth (Titcomb) Brickett was born about 1798 in Newbury, Massachusetts, she married Moody Brickett November 9, 1815, and together they had four children.
