McCarty & Davis, publishers (Philadelphia) Battle of New Orleans and Death of Major General Packenham on the 8th of January 1815. July 1817. Identified in inscriptions in the matrix. Hand-colored aquatint engraving on paper, depicting the first version of the battle with British officers standing around the mortally wounded British general, while the battle rages in the background, with an inset of Andrew Jackson on the bottom, 17 x 21 in., unframed. Condition: Margins of 5/8 in. or more, toning, stains.
