(White House Memorabilia), Silver plate napkin ring inscribed "White House Staff Mess" and with "Dr. Janet Travell" on reverse, lg. 2 1/2 in.; together with a newspaper article concerning the practice. Note: It was customary for White House staffers to use napkin rings until early in the Johnson Administration. However, this practice was discontinued and each staff member was allowed to keep their own as a memento.
