Lady's 18kt Gold and Diamond Watch, designed as an open fil d'ange dome set with forty-four full-cut diamonds opening to reveal a small goldtone dial with Arabic and stick numeral indicators, braided gold half-circular frame, completed by a detachable fil d'ange chain, with fitting for conversion to a brooch, 53. 5 dwt, # 1075, signed Sterle Paris. Pierre Sterlé (1905-1983) designed and executed jewels for Chaumet, Boucheron and other leading Paris houses, as well as for his own private gallery. His work is considered distinctive for its movement and energy. He is known for fil d'ange, his trademark gold ropework.
