Pair of Carved Mahogany Shield-back Side Chairs, Baltimore, Maryland, c. 1800, the molded and scratchbeaded shaped crest above carved thistle elements on a punch-worked background continuing to pieced splats with additional floral devices above the lunette base of the shield, flanked by molded curving supports which continue to incurvate square legs attached to the front molded tapering legs by square stretchers, old refinish, (restoration to one chair), ht. 37, seat ht. 17 1/2 in.
