Pictorial Needlework Sampler, "Susanna Stanley Born October 24th --23," probably Pennsylvania, worked in silk threads on a linen ground, the needlework centered by a house with a fence and two trees, surrounded by various birds, flowers, butterflies, two verses, her parents names, William and Rebecca Stanley, and the probable date Susanna completed the sampler, October 12, 1832, all enclosed in a geometric floral border, (thread losses, toning, staining), 15 3/4 x 22 in. Provenance: Descent through a Pennsylvania family.
