Sailor Made Walnut and Ivory Box, 19th century, dovetail constructed hinged rectangular box, the top and sides with turned and carved pendant ring ivory handles ringed with red and black wax, kite-shaped carved ivory escutcheon, ht. 8 5/8, wd. 17 3/4, dp. 9 1/4 in. Note: Oral history relates that this box came from a ship named "Carolus," which operated out of Boston.
