Painted Framed Looking Glass, possibly the work of Nehemiah Partridge, eastern Massachusetts, first quarter 18th century, rectangular molded frame painted red with intersecting linear designs in black, (wear), 9 1/4 x 7 7/8 in. Provenance: Avis and Rocky Gardiner, Dean A. Fales, Jr., to the present owner. Literature: A similar looking glass is attributed to Nehemiah Partridge and illustrated in American Painted Furniture 1660-1880, by Dean A. Fales, Jr., E. P. Dutton and Company, Inc. New York, 1972, fig. 101, p. 71. Note: A paper label affixed to the back reads: "Attr. to Nehemiah Partridge, Boston, 1st quarter, 18th c. Cf. Antiques, 5/43. TC."
