2 3/4-inch New Globe of the Earth by Nicholas Lane, with cartouche A New Globe of the Earth by N. Lane , made up of twelve gores on plaster-covered sphere, with continents colored and outlined, oceans labelled (the Pacific Ocean or Great South Sea, the Western Atlantic Ocean, the Ethiopic Ocean and the Eastern Ocean), the Antarctic labelled the Frozen Ocean, and showing Captain Cook's Track, Anson's Going and Anson's Return, the equatorial graduated in hours and degrees, the eccliptic in days of the month and zodiacal sigils, the prime meridian marked Meridian of London, geographical information including the Moguls Empire, Negroland, Barbary and Independent Tartary, in fishskin-covered pasteboard case with hook-clasps, red rims and two sets of twelve interior celestial gores and two polar calottes shaded green and showing the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn in blue, the stars and the constellations as mythical creatures, (lacking axis pins).
