Photographic Portraits of the Gifford Family, various sixth-plate daguerreotype portraits in cases; a sixth-plate daguerreotype portrait of two children, in book-form case with mother-of-pearl inlay of classical ruins ; two ambrotypes; a tin-type gem album; a printing block; and various albumen prints. Provenance: The images purportedly show the Gifford family of Westport, Maine, a farming family whose final member died in 1960. The portraits were acquired from the Gifford homestead in the 1960s. A letter of provenance is included with the lot.
