Early Steiff Blonde Mohair Teddy Bear, c. 1905, black steel eyes, brown embroidered nose, mouth, and claws, blank ear button, fully jointed, cream-color felt pads (left paw poorly repaired), excelsior stuffing, long arms, big feet (minor spotty fur loss), ht. 16 in. Provenance: The bear was brought from Wittenberg, Germany, to the United Sates by the young owners Louis and Matthew Bitzer, uncles of the consignor, circa 1905.
