Castleford -Type Pottery Teapot and Covered Sugar Bowl, probably by Robert Sowter, Mexborough, South Yorkshire, c. 1800, made for the American market, ovoid white stoneware teapot with hinged lid and sugar bowl bearing a molded figure of Liberty on one side and an eagle and shield with thirteen stars on the other, leafy borders, blue outlining, (minor hairlines to teapot rim and base), ht. 10, 5 3/8 in.
