Provenance: From the collection of the Fuller Museum of Art. N.B. Mabel May Woodward was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1877. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, to where she would later return to teach. She studied elsewhere as well, including the Ogunquit School in Maine, where she spent many of her summers. She was the first female president of the Providence Art Club. She exhibited her work there and even had a one-woman show in 1939.
