Note: Paper accompanying the bowl reads "Dec.2nd 1919 Mr. Harry Barnard of Josiah Wedgwood & Sons Museum at Etruria, Stoke-on-Trent, wrote, after seeing Miss Ellen Rickman's china: That her black Basalte Ware Bowl or Vase was an approximate copy, made by Messrs Wedgwood, of the old font at Essenden Church, Herts."
