Telescopic Presentation Silvered Fire Horn, the 6-inch bell engraved with firefighter, ladder and lamp insignia, engraved Presented to Engineer John D. Hilliard by the Officer's & Members of Washington Engine Co. No. 1 , Provenance: Presented to the seller's great-grandfather, John David (known as J.D.) Hilliard, merchant and fire chief of Provincetown. The onetime owner of the town's general store and Hilliard's wharf, he is also believed to have supplied Provincetown with its first fire engine.
