Two Master Patterns from the L. S. Starrett Co., for smooth and stippled-pattern combination square heads, the smooth head with foundry label from its final use in 1953. Note: This lot and the following 4 lots are original patterns recently deaccssesioned as obsolete from the L.S. Starrett Co., one of the most important names in the history of American industry. Starrett was the first company to manufacture a combination square, which was eventually manufactured by almost every major measuring tool maker in the world. Although hard to place an exact date on these patterns, they are all certainly pre-War and most likely date from c. 1900.
