Attributed to Thomas Chambers ((London, New York, and Boston, 1808-1866) View of Forest Pond, Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Unsigned, inspired after an engraving by R. Brandard of a painting by William Henry Bartlett. Oil on canvas, 14 1/4 x 18 1/4 in, in a period molded pine frame. Condition: Minor craquelure. Note: Established in 1831, Mount Auburn Cemetery was the nation's first "garden cemetery". A similar painting of Forest Pond, Mount Auburn Cemetery, by Thomas Chambers is in the collection of The National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.
