Pair of Needlework Samplers, America, late 18th/early 19th century, similar samplers worked in silk threads on a woven wool ground, one by "Elizabeth Davies Ended This In The Year Of Our Lord 1771," the other by her sister Mary finished in 1776, with rows of alphabets, pious verses, "The Lord's Prayer" and floral and geometric borders, (losses, fading), 13 x 11 in. , housed in period carved wood frames.
