Abalone Inlaid Carved Whale Ivory and Whalebone Yarn Swift, early 19th century, the swift with octagonal carved ivory yarn holder cup and collars with diamond-shaped abalone inlay on turned and carved whalebone shaft and expanding whalebone slats, supported on a carved table clamp with fist and heart motif and conforming inlay, (breaks on winder, repairs to fist), ht. 17 1/2 in.
