George Hitchcock (American, 1850-1913) Woman in the Garden Signed "G. HITCHCOCK" l.r. Oil on canvas, 44 1/2 x 35 1/2 in. (113.0 x 90.2 cm), framed. Condition: Punctures, retouch, craquelure, surface grime. There is a tear with losses running vertically, just over 2 in. in length. Retouch is scattered small areas (predominately to flowers are background) as well as broad areas of light wash u.r. There are scattered light abrasions. Craquelure stable throughout, with scattered areas of gentle lifting The work would benefit from a cleaning.
