La Fontaine, Jean de (1621-1695), Fables Choisies Mises en Vers , Paris: Denys Thierry and Claude Barbin, 1678-1694, five volumes, contemporary calf, with 235 half page plates, with "Et sans cela" on page 101 of volume III; volume IV the last line of Le Singe et le Leopard altered to "N'ont que l'habit"; and with Barbin's device on top of Vol. V, 12mo, (bindings heavily chipped and bumped, hinges starting, internally very crisp).
