Coligny, Gaspard de (1519-1572), Signed document, [undated], one page, on vellum, in French, contents not translated, framed with portrait, 6 1/2 by 11 in. (heavily wrinkled to right side, two tears not affecting text, paper remnants to reverse, taped along top edge to reverse). Note: Gaspard de Colligny, a favorite of Charles IX, was placed at the front of the Prostestant party of Huguenots during the religious conflicts of the period. Catherine de Medicis ordered his assassination at St. Bartholomew in 1572.
