Margaret F. Foley (American, 1820-1877) Portraits of Mr. and Mrs. E.H.R. Lyman , each carved Carrara marble, signed and dated Roma, 1868, oval format and dished edge, each with well carved features and dress, framed, ht. 23, wd. 16 3/4 in. Note: Edward Hutchinson Robbins Lyman (1819-1899) was a member of the prominent New England Lyman family. His mark on Massachusetts includes the gift of the Academy of Music to the town of Northampton in 1892. Only very minor surface wear; excellent overall; identified by inscription on reverse.
