Leon Volkmar Studio Pottery Earthenware covered jar New York, 1923 Bulbous form in Sang de Boeuf glaze, impressed potter's and date mark on base, and an illegible word with HOCL below, ht. 4 1/2 in. Note: Volkmar spent thirty years developing this glaze. The Japanese used zinc in their sang de boeuf, but Volkmar achieved his Oriental glaze without it.
