Engraved Walrus Ivory Tusk, Samuel Richmond, c. 1869, the tusk with six engraved images, one face depicting a full-length figure of a Union soldier, a bust-length portrait of Abraham Lincoln flanked by the inscriptions "Our Martyre'd President" and "He Died Not in Vain," and a speadwing eagle and Union shield; the other face with a cornucopia, Lady Liberty bearing a sword and the Union shield, and a three-masted sailing vessel and anchor with a banner inscribed "Full Sails Away," the base indistinctly inscribed "Sam'l Richmond," (crack, small base loss), lg. 14 5/8 in.
