Attributed to Thomas Sully (American, 1783 - 1872) Portrait of Andrew Thurlow Tibbs. Unsigned. Artist and sitter identified on label affixed to the reverse. Oil on canvas, 17 x 13 7/8 in., in an ornate gilt gesso frame. Condition: Relined, retouch to figure and background. several areas of retouch to face, body , clothing , background. The label on the reverse also states, that the painting is the property of Robert Coggins, Atlanta, GA. and the original canvas was prepared by Edward DeChaux of New York. Frame dimentions 25 x 22 in.
