Pastel on paper, c. 1836, the symbolic picture depicting John the Baptist portrayed as a child holding the Lamb of God, a symbol for Jesus, whom he met as a child., 24 1/2 x 20 1/2 in., in original molded grain painted frame. Condition: Very good. Exhibited: The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, By and for the People: American Folk Art From a Private Collection, October 3rd -November 14th 1976, retaining exhibition label. small impression on left cheek; sm. abrasion at left edge in the center.
